Breakfast on board then our guide will start your Aswan sightseeing by visiting the famous High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk & The Philae Island Temple – Drive back to your Nile cruise and you’ll spend overnight in Aswan.

The Famous Aswan High Dam:  Achieved in 1960 to protect Egypt from the flood and generate electricity. Prepare yourself for a particularly overwhelming sightseeing experience, Aswan High Dam is truly impressive. The Dam is 3600 meters long, 980 meters thick at the base, and 111 meters tall (at its highest point). The water of Lake Nasser, the world’s largest man-made lake, has amassed behind it. It provides irrigation water and electricity for the whole of Egypt. Located 13 km south of Aswan then drive to visit the Philae temple.

The Unfinished Obelisk: The granite quarry in the east bank of Aswan was used to cut the statues, coffins, boxes, sarcophagi, and obelisks for the kings. Thanks to the unfinished obelisk, gives us the light of the technique of making it. When the workers finished the obelisk in the quarry, they took it to the river to transport it to the temples. It was very hard work. Just five obelisks are found in Egypt now. Thirteen Egyptian obelisks are in Italy. Seven are in London. One is in Paris. One is in Istanbul and one is in New York. This one is not finished due to the natural cracks in its body.

Temple of Philae: Proceed to visit Philae Temple, the Greaco Roman temple dedicated to goddess Isis using a small motorboat to get there. This beautiful temple complex is one of the most picturesque in all of Egypt. It sits on Aglika Island just south of the old Aswan Dam. The temple was moved to its current location following the construction of the High Dam, which threatened to submerge it permanently. The careful reconstruction at the current site carefully completed, painstakingly preserving the original appearance and layout of the complex and even landscaping the island to match its former location. Philae rose to prominence during the Ptolemaic Dynasty as the center of the cult of the goddess Isis. This complex was actually one of the last remaining places where the ancient religion survived after the arrival of Christianity in Egypt, officially closing only in 551 AD. Early Christians then used the main temple on the island as a church.

The Egyptian government and UNESCO decided to cooperate in order to save these temples from the flood. The Temple of Ramses II was dedicated to the four universal gods Ptah, Re-Her-Akhtey, Amun-Re, and to Ramesses II himself. The great Abu Simbel temple is also called The Sun Temple of Ramses II. The Temple of Queen Nefertari is also Called Temple of Hathor who was the wife of the Sun God so in a symbolic way, the two Temples, that of Ramesses II and that of Nefertari, bring Ramesses II, Nefertari, Hathor, and the Sun God together as one.
